Lucia di Lammermoor's mad scene, featuring real glass harmonica!
Diana Damrau, “the leading coloratura soprano in the world” in the words of the New York Sun, first sang Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Five years later, for this recording from Munich’s Philharmonie Gasteig, she is joined by two splendid singers from the Mediterranean: tenor Joseph Calleja as her lover Edgardo, and baritone Ludovic Tézier as her brother Enrico. Recorded live in concert in July 2013, this 2-CD set captures Diana Damrau’s first performances of Lucia di Lammermoor in Munich, the capital of her native state of Bavaria.
