As Fatma explains, "The poetry is very symbolic and philosophical in feeling, and the way we developed it in the studio with the musicians was extremely special: some of them had never heard this musical setting by Najib Hankash before, so there was this beautiful lack of any expectation of how it should sound, and we all improvised spontaneously, listening to one another. It was a creation of complete bliss."

She is joined by conductor Giedrė Šlekytė and the Camerata Salzburg, live in Salzburg during the 50th-birthday gala concert held in honor of Rolando Villazón.

This adventurous recording of sacred arias and motets from the 18th century follows in the vein of Anima Sacra, which in 2018 announced Jakub Józef Orliński’s arrival as a recording artist and, as Gramophone magazine wrote, "a voice with a big future".
"Anima Aeterna is intended as a continuation of Anima Sacra," says Jakub Józef Orliński. "It offers a kind of dialogue, starting a conversation between the two programs. I’ve always wanted my solo albums to be artistic statements and to present ideas, telling smaller and bigger stories, and to make connections and arguments through their programs."

"The ney’s timbre and minute expressive nuances are so similar to those of the human voice," explains Fatma, "that the combination of flute and singer really does sound like an intimate conversation between two people in private."
El Nour (النور , or "The Light") explores music of Western and Eastern origins through an enchanting program of French, Spanish, and Arabic songs. Joining Fatma in these recordings are pianist Malcolm Martineau, guitarist Rafael Aguirre, the vision string quartet, and a jazz ensemble including traditional Middle Eastern instruments: Tim Allhoff (piano), Itamar Doari (percussion), Henning Sieverts (double bass), Tamer Pinarbasi (kanun), and Burcu Karadağ (ney flute).

Soprano Fatma Said and pianist Malcolm Martineau collaborate from two different living rooms in two different countries – proving that, whether in times of joy or hardship, music can cross all boundaries and bring us together.
In March 2020, Fatma Said's concert with Malcolm Martineau at Wigmore Hall in London was cancelled due to increased measures of confinement, affecting countries all across the world. Though both in separate places of confinement, they kept the spirit of musical collaboration alive through this special video collaboration, shared alongside a wish of health and safety to all.
