Marianne Crebassa & Thibaut Garcia record Massenet's Nuit d'Espagne

Mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa sings Massenet's alluring Nuit d'Espagne, accompanied by guitarist Thibaut Garcia. This recording is featured on her album Séguedilles: https://w.lnk.to/segLY

This piece reflects the spirit of the program of Séguedilles, a project which is inspired by the singer's personal ties to Spain and France. As she explains, "French composers have been fascinated by Spanish culture when they have needed to find new inspiration. In the late 19th century and early 20th century there was a great wave of interest in everything considered exotic ... India, Japan, Africa and, especially, Spain, a country between two continents – Europe and Africa – and two cultures. It was only natural for composers to look for new inspiration and new colors in Spanish music, which is close to French culture, but characterized by different rhythms and dances."
