"I've long dreamed of playing with the Wiener Philharmoniker," said violinist Renaud Capuçon in 2011, and his dream has come true with this recording of two concerto masterpieces of the Austro-German repertoire: the Brahms and the Berg, composed almost 50 years apart. The conductor is Daniel Harding, who has built a close relationship the legendary Viennese orchestra.

Fidèle à son désir de mettre en miroir des œuvres a priori très différentes, Renaud Capuçon confronte l'incandescence romantique du Concerto en ré majeur de Brahms avec le modernisme poignant du Concerto écrit « À la mémoire d'un ange » de Berg.
Il exauce ici un rêve de longue date: jouer avec l'orchestre Philharmonique de Vienne. A ce rêve exaucé s'ajoute un une émotion particulière: c'est en effet la première fois qu'est publié un enregistrement du Concerto de Berg avec l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Vienne, pourtant dédicataire et créateur de l'oeuvre en octobre 1936. Une belle première pour le violoniste français!
